Ecotec is GM.

Opel is GM.

I'm not sure if this is the diesel version, below:

http://www.opel-web.de/Zeichnungen/Motoren/ecotec-01-schnitt.jpg

or the petrol version:

Enough to break the heart of a waterpumper... Why a bloody holden engine instead of a worthy VW 1.8 or 2L donk.... I am sure there is a reason, but what is it...

Commercial blue I would have guessed..

Not a fan of this sort of bastardisation, but I, like most, can appreciate the work that has gone into it.. Because if I am not mistaken, that has a narrowed beam front and is actually tubbed in the front, i.e. edge of the inside of the cabin..

Maybe he couldn't fit a VW engine in there with those coil-over s he's got. Those rear feet look pretty wide!!!

As far as I know Ecotec is the hip, cool, happenin' marketing name General Motors uses to discribe their version of the sequential fuel injection they use on their motors. An electronic fuel injection system that is calibrated on mass air flow.

It is a GM Chevy engine (I think from a US Cavalier) the reason he's using a Ecotec because a little later down the line it's going to have a Turbo fitted putting out approx 300BHP,
Do a search on The Samba search by name jeff k. make sure you put the . after the name.

As opposed to the VTEC thing, which is variable valve timing, something ecotec is far from.
