Rat look Country Buggy... should I?
Okay, I have a CB that is in pieces in a (too slow!) state of restoration. The body is sound, but has 30 years of dents and bends in it. Should I
restore it to brand-new, or leave it looking tatty and ratty? All mechanicals will be checked/serviced/renewed, including engine but I may make a rat!
What do people think?

if you leave it ratty tatty you could always do it later
also the dents and scratches adds character and shows the kind of life its had....
as i said you can always make it back to new again later :thumb

the idea of a 'rat concept' is to allow you the opportunity to spend on the mechanical so as to at least get it back on the road, in a
usable acceptable state.
NOW GET TO IT! yo have no excuses
'drive it now. cosmetise later'.... oooh have i invented a term

Just don't do anything to it that you can't put back to original later (when you get round to it!).
A country buggy lowered on whitewalls, first time for everything I suppose!

yeah, I'm not going to cut/chop anything. I've restored cars before and I hate it when I see a nice old classic Holden or VW or whatever
with sheetmetal butchered. Won't be lowering it - I want to drive it to Cape York! I answered my own question really - I'll leave it the way
it is so I don't cry at stonechips!

Good advice
Just give up on the idea, you know you want to, you could make $20 bucks by selling me the running gear- would solve all those sleepless nights
dreaming about going up or down...oops they are my dreams.

I've already spent $700 on getting the K&L front end done and I delivered the engine to Pobjoy's last week. We disassembled it and the
case and rods are fine - although the P&Cs are shot and the crank will need grinding thanks to dust in the oil. I guess I will find out what the
gearbox and reduction hubs are like when the engine goes back in...
The only real work required is a new windscreen, new lights and wiring and some more rust welded up. I have already replaced the sills and lower 3
inches of the body all the way around... Go the ratty Country Buggy!
