Found a good business today

:thumb
I called this guy today about disc brakes for my bug. Hes down at Labrador (QLD SE corner), I think hes called Volks Conversions, he has an add in the issue of VMA.
I am planning on getting my rear brakes for a bug from him, disc with parking brake for $770.
Great guy and was willing to talk to me about stuff like 5 speed gearboxes ($1100 for the kit apparently) , and pointed out a few things that he didn't do, but that I was going to do wrong. Very friendly, helpfull, and seemed geniune.
Just a note in case anyone else is after that sort of stuff.

When you go for discs don't you go for fronts first? I'm drums all round and before any engine mods, brakes , sus etc has to be done and brakes are next on the list. Interesting:cool:

Already disc at front, with dropped spindles (hopefully on way over the pond from US)
Agreed, front first, but the price for his front almost made me yelp, same vicinity as the US ones, and I do prefer to buy from Aust first.

My only advice on his disk brakes from years ago and i have heard a few times is the caliper and piston are so big that the normal master cylinder can not handle the amount of pressure needed. i.e. the brakes don't grab enough making them worse than drums. But I guess things could have changed. If somone buys can they please let me know if they encountered any probs like this as i may buy some.

I have recently bought and installed (last 8 months) 2 complete sets of these brakes and have encountered no problems at all. The fronts and rears lock up when ya wack the pedal hard enough. Used a duel master cylinder(beetle). No problems at all..

Well due to problems at CB performance I may end up getting his brakes. Apart from Mick H, anyone else bought his gear, just U2U me so we have no problems abput discussing suppliers. I thought he sounded pretty good and very friendly.
