I'm having fun at uni! at last!
I have to do a group software project. Its the main subject of the degreee, what gives me the most credit points, goes the longest, and probably what
will decide if I am employable or not.
Anyway a group is 3 to 5 people and the discussioin boards are frantic with people trying to form groups. Fortunately for me I had this all planned
out and group formed last year. We're all ready to go.
Its funny looking at the boards looking at people trying to big note themeselves, or the honest ones saying that they arent distinction average but
hard working. Its cracking me up especially the overseas students. For a joke I thought I would put up one for myself, see below. (scary part is that
it is mostly true)
I've done all the usual CSCI subjects, some ECTE, some IACT, some MATH, and some BUSS cos I wandered around aimlessly,
changing degrees, changing majors, before I got tired of attending uni and thought the only way out is to finally get a degree. If it wasnt for the
administration side of things I could stay here forever (the other reason is because Nicole Kidman wont return my calls). I worked fulltime for 14
years. it sucks. So here I am, BCompSci double majoring distributed systems and business information systems. My marks are erratic, a handful of
HD's a couple of PC's and everything in between. I dont know the reason for this, I will seek therapy to try and find out (right after I get
back from the unibar; beer is good, chicken schnitzels are a food group of their own)
So you wouldnt try to forge a group with me right? Wrong, I'm being inundated with offers. Its brilliant. If I get sprung I will probably get my
arse kicked or kicked out of the subject but this is finally entertaining!

Its great to be back here with super fast internet! And the main general use lab has new PC's with 17 inch monitors, up from the archaic 15 inch
of last year.
The POXY coloured iMacs are still the same.

ahhh! The final year project - source of much wasted time and irritation. This is where you decide that it is better to work for yourself that to
try to fit in to a business that is going in so many different directions you can see the stress cracks from outside the office!
Good luck, I've been there and hated every minuite of it.
Oh yeah, your 'advert' was great! Knowing how most Uni students think, a sense of humor is fairly high on the 'required talents'
list

yes, well its better than this...
I am looking to either form or join a group of motivated and dedicated students that are
determined (as I am) to excel in the CSCI321 Project.
I am 31 years of age, recently returning to uni part-time to complete a degree in the
field of my proffessional work. I am currently employed full time as a software
developer of C# applications with a number of years experience in this field aswell as
business management.
Last year I completed the following subjects.
MATH122 - Probability and Logic 99% (the top mark)
CSCI213 - Java and Internet 86%
CSCI205 - Software Development Methods & Tools 86%
CSCI235 - Databases 93%
I'm not boasting, but I do want to make it clear that I am after a top mark in this
subject. In my opinion, the software project is the 'showcase' of the CompSci degree.
Future employers will most definately be more interested in my performance in a
practical demonstration of skills in a group effort (as CSCI321 is) rather than any
academic subject, so I am determined to do well.
If you are interested in working with me, have good grades (distinction average ?), are
prepared to put the work in and have good English communication and people skills, then
please feel free to contact me.
I'm pretty easy to get along with. I'm not as uptight as I realise I sound here
I socialise a lot and I love a beer as much as the next man, but I do seperate work from
pleasure.
Cheers
(email address withheld)
And there are 100 others just like it.

Certainly rules me out. My honest average is 65, but I can bring it up to 70 by taking out the 2 I failed and had to do again. A long way of his
desired 85.

This guy is desperate. He is cutting and pasting all over the place. Seen the same postl maybe 10 times.
Hello Chris,
This is Kit, my friend and I are also looking for a
group and he has the experience of the project. we already
finished CSCI204, CSCI235, CSCI213, CSCI212, CSCI205 and
IACT201. By the way, can I asked which topic that you want
to choose? if u chosed web programming, I think I can give
you some idea cause my roommate who has already done this
topic at last year and got credit on it.
If you have some question, please connect me :
I think not buddy.
My idea for a project was accepted. Just need to find a supervisor for it now. The subject co-ordinator sounds very enthusiastic. Now I dont have to
go into the informatics lottery and fight with other groups for a project from the list . I have a grin on my face like I just had sex with a
supermodel and she died leaving me all her money. I dont care if the project doesnt get off the ground. My idea was accepted

Having just finished mine I am happy to say it was fun
Did mine for a uni and built them a Student Information Managment and Accounting System.
Was good to do something in the real world. Documenting the process was a PITA but it is over now :thumb
Enjoy, so what is your project area ?

Its a car pooling system. Cos my uni has just increased its parking fees to $200pa or $2 hr and still you arent guaranteed a spot. They did this at
the same time as the parking around uni was reduced in the number of spaces and half of those left turned into 2 hour spaces. The only cheap
alternative is if you car pool the parking fees are reduced somewhat, kinda like a transit lane. BUT how do you find someone compatible to pool with,
hence my brilliant idea.
People with cars enter in where they live, what times they travel. Then people looking for a lift log on. It will have a map of an area from Sydney to
nowra, which you zoom in on (like whereis.com.au) with little cars zooming along, you set the slider bar to pick your time and click on the car you
want to be in.
How do you do that? I dunno, but thats the plan. I would have made it simple like an HTML form with a database in the background but thats too easy
apparently.
