Crook Kombi front axles
The left hand side front wheel bearings on my '76 Kom were a bit loose so I tried to adjust them. They wouldn't adjust up properly so I took off
the hub and found that the stub axle itself is worn. There's bit of a step on the shaft where the inner track of the inner bearing has been turning
on the axle.
Is this a common problem with Koms ? I guess we've been down a fair few rough dirt roads- does that wreck them ? What happens now ? Do we have to
buy a whole new stub axle ? That looks mighty expensive. Can they be fixed ? Who does that kind of work ? Does anyone have a couple of spare axles
in good nick they want to sell ?

The stub axle will be stuffed, You will need to replace it, a good 2nd hand one shouldn't be hard to find.
Where are you? and some one near may be able to help.

I'm in the Blue Mountains.
But I'm interested to know if this is a common problem with the later Kombis. We did thousands of miles of rough dirt in our old '71 model, and
never struck any problems with the axles. Did the quality of the steel used go downhill ? Maybe it's worth chasing up replacement parts from the
earlier model bus.
