kombi queries
in my 72 i have a worn front steering knukle amongst other finer points. i want to repair but for the time being i can get a good 76 beam to replace
it. will a 76 beam fit my 72?
and also a question for the engine specialists! if my engine is blowing smoke on the gearing down end of things , then am i running a little rich or
could it be rings?
cheers josh
not after a perfect diagnosis of coarse, more just checking if anyone else out there has had the same or similar thing happen.

black smoke = inefficient fuel burn: time for a tune-up!
blue smoke = oil getting into cylinders: worn rings and/or valve guides.
