PC mice question
I hate friggin mieces to pieces.
I had a problem with PS2 mice. The pointer would freeze leaving me to fend for myself with the tab key. So I pissed that off and bought an infra red
neutered microsoft USB mouse and now it is pissing me off too. It just kinda switches off and I have to unplug/plug it back in again to get it to
work.
Why does my PC hate mice?

Just a thought... have you formatted/reloaded your OS lately?
everytime my mouse craps itself, most other things crap themselves and i know its time for a format.
just a thought. |

was there any software with your mouse?? this can sometimes lead the puter astray if your software is not correct for the mouse you are using. Could
also be a bad connection on the port you are using.

i have a genius optical mouse and it works a treat ......if your mouse came with a driver disc and u havent installed it and are just using the
windows drivers then install the ones that came with the mouse......if u arent running Win XP...then get it...even if u have to obtain it in a
slightly less legal manner than others.... .......just make sure u disable
the autoupdates and the remote services in system in controll panel bfore u go online to prevent microsoft knocking on your door...... i do agree with
XXX-1.8T though...USB is the way to go...and well if u dont have USB ports.....THEN BUY A NEW COMPUTER!!!!

I format my hard drive and reload everything rather often. only a month or 2 old. After reloading stuff I defrag.
Win 98, hopefully migrating to 2000 very soon.
I thought so too, so I changed to the USB, but still frigging me around.
yes I am using the driver that came with the mouse.

ok so u wouldnt run XP very well at all.......bugger cause it fixes alot of microsoft problems in the earlier versions.........one thing i have found
though is that microsoft although making decent software isnt the best at hardware.....every microsoft keyboard ive seen has shitted its self way
before differnt brands and we had microsoft intellimice and now after using the genius optical i think they are inferior.........(ps: im not
supporting microsoft......i always go for the underdog! and im sick of all the licenseing shite!)
make sure u arent using a mouse pad with a 3d design or anything because this will reflect the laser (actualy its just an LED) around and it wont
read properly......whatever u do.....dont get windows ME...its so unstable its not funny.

you may also consider the surface that you are running the mouse on. If it is shiny then the mouse cannot detect movement. have had trouble with my
mouse in that way. I move it on my benchtop and the pointer will not move on the screen.

Chris u2u me your address for the RAM
also I reckon if a fresh win install doesn't fix the prob then either you RAM or your MB is stuffed - drivers what make any differance.
If your lucky its your RAM - give it a go with the one I'm sending you on its own to test.
actually I'll stick some diagnostic software in with the RAM

Only seems to happen when I am using it alot. Maybe its just a lazy mouse. Will try feeding it lots of cheese.

BTW
In relation to the computer version the plural of Mouse is Mouses
Is the USB one cordless ? they turn off to save power and require a click or movement with a small pause before restarting

If I had a spare $3K I would do just that.
To buy a new computer now might be a little bit stupid since hopefully it will be a tax deduction in 12 months.

P3's are a bit outdated now,.......what u need to do is buy a brand spanking AMD 64bit processor, a nice Asus Mainboard, radeon 9800Xt PRO graphics
card, 2 seagate serial ATA 120 GB discs in Raid 0 array, 1 gig of corsair DDR400 ram and a 500watt power supply.......Whack all that into a New Antec
Super Lanboy case .....whack in your old cdrom and modem and your ready to go.....:thumb
