its not Legal
There is a book on this put out by the "Wheel and Tyre Association" which was part of the MVRIC, 185 is the smallest to go on a 6" wheel so you can look at 185/60x15 maybe or 195/50x15
:cry

tyres and stuff!

To maintain your correct speedo calibration you need to use,185/70/15 or 195/65/15
This is called the "Inch Up Principle".
To make low profile tyres fit, while maintaining the same overall diameter of the original tyres and without resulting in excessive tyre width, the diameter of the wheel can be increased one,two three inches to compensate for the lower cross section tyre height.

165 tyres can only go on 4 to 41/2 inch rims. legally.
the advise given by the others is right.

catch you soon,

Looks like I'm up for new tyes!I was told I could use 165s on 6" Empi 8 spokes. The wheels will be here any day now!
Live and learn they say!!!Who wants some standard wheels with great tyres? No,they're not for sale yet!

If your only using them temporarily then why not?
We use tyres on the F-Vee's that were designed about 30 years ago for 4 1/2" rims and we happily run them tubeless on 6" rims.
At the end of the day each bead is pulled only 3/4" out yeah?
They are a bastard to mount but will run happily enough like that. I run them on the front as low as 12psi.

Check for legality thru your state rego dept. if it bothers you.
