Strange noise on the notch
I was moving Suzi's notch thats been parked up so I could make some space to swap a gearbox on another can and I took it for a quick spin.
This car has been parked up for about a year or so and after about 10 mins of running a noise has appeared like a high pitch shrill noise. It
disappears when you rev, but I'm not sure if this is the engine drowning out the noise. Its a pretty constant screech sound rather than a knock.
I've included a link to a video I shot with my digital camera so anyone with a fast connection can listen. (1.6MB download)
I thought is was a generator bearing, so I removed the fan belt and it was still there. It appears to be coming from the right hand cylinder bank from
above , but underneath the car it sound like its coming from somewhere else.
I'm sort of hoping that its the release bearing as although its a pig to change I'd rather it be that than an internal engine part.
Its a 1500S notch with its original engine that was rebuilt not so long ago.
Any pointers would be much appreciated as its baffling me and we want to register the car soon!
Thanks
Steve

maybe the clutch thrust bearing
was that change in pitch when you pressed the clutch in
