Anyone ever Quoted a Rag Top ?
Anyone ever quoted the price for a Rag Top ? Installation price & cutting the top ?
And the actual Kit ? are there Brand New ones made by other companies ? ever searched the price ? really interested in knowing ! So I can have a idea
on how much I spend each day in order to save up for one They are
really cool for summer, so getting ready for the summer, this winter I should start saving!

There was a Goldie ragtop clip on sale on the forum here not too long ago, although it got snapped up quick
Installation is basically cutting a hole in the roof and welding it in. The early ones dont have or need drainage bits like the late ones from what
i've heard. This isnt an easy job though, but i'd think it'd be worth it for a rag!

the after market ones leak when driving in the rain unless they are fitted with a perspex deflector which looks shocking

Glass sunroofs are about...
My Beetle has a glass sunroof that were popular in the 70s & 80s.. Its fairly small, but any larger and Your roof would go floppy, as the roof is
curved and the glass sunroofs are not.
My Son sold one on ebay last year.. Maybe I should have put two in.. NOW that would be different..
All You do for them is, cut the hole in the roof with an angle grinder.. and it just all goes together [with screws]...
You need to check out ebay.. I usually only look at VW stuff,
so I don't know if any have been on lately...
I forget there are other makes of cars and parts about
... !!!
Actually, You may still be able to buy a NEW glass sunroof ..
I have noticed them in small hatches etc..

The original Rag tops in VW Beetles over the years must have been expensive, as they are very rare in Australia yet very common in the UK & US....
or Maybe the options were Never mentioned to customers in Australia....
as any option IS rare in Australia...

Hello!
I am stupid here, and want to leanr something new! Can anyone tell me what are the main parts I have to look for if I'm going to seek parts on Ebay ?
clip ? rail ? hm ... I have no idea ..
Installation .... is it expensive ! I won't be able to do it myself, as I don't have the correct tools, and I am not brave enough to risk my top !
:P

AVWPC in Croydon have experience in ragtops for beetles...give them a call... 03 9725 5366....to get a rough idea of cost
I'm getting a whole lot of other things done so can't tell you the price of just the ragtop
Once people know you're seriously after one, then they let you know if they see one around....but look around yourself...They ARE hard to find
now!!
Good luck!!

ok I just got mine in on Monday(Britax).
A sunroof installer that puts in hollandia(?) sunroofs, moden glass or steel sun roofs, came to my mates factory and cut the hole and drilled all the
holes then put the main frame in for 80 bucks (2 hours work)
was sad to see a roof cut but at least it was a Sbug
now its done and I've sleep on the fact that its in, its the bloody ducks guts
......ask "soda pop" he might have one for sale(britax).....needs work though and some parts.

Cool, thanks. I'm trying to find a goldie, I know it's hard, so before I can get one, I want to gather all the information first, I don't want to
be the one cutting the top too risky ... so just want to see if any
workshop will do it for me ?
