best method to remove barrells?

I am splitting a motor heads and everything is off , how do I get the barrels Of without damaging them?
I am assuming that this is the thing to do next before splitting the box?

A motor stand is handy here so as you can get a good swing in both directions.

With the motor sitting flat and a wooden/urethene/rubber mallet you tap perpedicularly (is that a word??) and slowly loosen the pot.

If you what too hard or at an angle you could/will brake a few fins on the barrels.

Take it slow and if it wont come - do another one and come back.
