Solid visor aerodynamics?

Wondering if any one who drives a bug, or anything for that matter, with a solid visor, can give any advice on how much wind resistance a solid visor creates. i.e. how securely do they need to be fitted. Any experience of them "auto -ejecting" at a particular speed.
I'm fitting one at the moment and could self tap into gutters but would rather not.
Cheers
Brad

because they slope down slightly i should think that any effect would be a downforce on a kombi, therefore no chance of auto-ejecting it, but on a beetle with the wind shooting up off the windscreen, not so sure.

Doesn't the wind shoot up off the windscreen of a Kombi?

Brad, this has been an issue over the years.. They do just fly off if not securely mounted, but the big question is, how securely is secure?

My mesh one on the Beetle I used to have was secured in a similar way to what you are suggesting, and that was only a mesh one.
It seems extreme, but yeah, might have to drill a couple of holes.. Maybe it is me.. (I tend to be a bit of a hacker with this sort of stuff..)

I dunno.. think of the damage it COULD cause if it DID fly off? Weigh it up?

if it's on a kombi, your nt going to go very fast anyway :vader

Just havin' a bit of fun :)

im looking at getting a mesh one.. didnt actually occur to me that it may fly off.. but if you get some rubber, and pad the gutters or where ever they visor clamps to? the beetle ones clamp yeah?.. you can tighten everything pretty well, over the rubber (cut up tyre tube) and prolly wouldnt have a problem
