Looking good Pete (and Rod) - hope the oil pump problem Rod told me about today is not too serious. I guess its time to pull that nice engine out for anther strip down to check for damage right? I guess thats the downside of running consistent 12's!! Hopefully 11's some time in the future!

48 IDA motor update

After hurting rear main with to much freeway driving,Rod is stepping up to a CB SUPER case ( stronger, will fit 86crank latter, new condition) with there 4quart deep sump. What i like about this sump is you can easily put your hand inside it,for fitment.PLUS as the old case had a sand seal and new doesn't we ordered a Competition Engineering billet crank pulley with a new designed 3/4 drive crank bolt ( large dia no washer ) CRANK as been nitrided, polished, new bearings, balanced by Crankshaft Engineering. NEXT,deck height, compression, piston to valve clearance and more .

How is your case so shiny? Is it the new ali case? How low does the sump sit to the ground?
I am going to run a slim line sump because of clearance on my CB Super case.

Case has the 3.5mm extra on the sides.
Will most likely shorten the barrels to get
the correct deck.

Thanks for the info - what length rod is that with ?
A friend running an 88mm crank used century cylinders and clearanced them rather than cut them - bit more piston support. Just an idea.

current rod is 5.392(137mm stock length) and 82mm stroke. Yes we will only shorten the step on the bottom and still have the support of the lower part of the cylinder.nn[ Edited on 13-7-2005 by dangerous ]
