is 300,000 alot of Km's for a van?
Just wondering, my 84 caravelle has 300,000kms on it. Do you think the motor has been reconditioned? It runs great with no smoke blowing and a tiny
oil leak. How many K's can you get out of this thing. By the way, I'm looking for a repair manual for it any idea on where to find one?

that sounds like a lot of km's.
it may have been recond.
the amount of km's you could expect is largely dependant on how it has been driven.
If you have any doubt you should take it to your friendly local VW service place, and get them to do an inspection on it.
they should also be able to provide you with a repair manual.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

That said
does it matter if it pulls hard and doesnt burn oil???
If it has been servived regularly .....
1984 is 20 year.... so 15,000 per yaer - a good amount. Was driven regularly
Put a new speedo in it and stop worrying

Chances are that it has been reco'd. If not some parts are bound to be very worn, also rubber bits will have perished - like fuel hoses, brake lines,
etc! If you've just bought the kombi, it's worth checking it over for peace of mind...
