Sorry for another Oil question
Hello,
I have a 1641cc engine (professionally done - heavy duty springs, Engel camshaft, etc..) that also has a full flow engine oil cannister filter. Its
about one year old and it runs OK but there is a slight gurgling noise when I go uphill and I am in a higher gear. No biggie, I change down and it
goes away...
I'm living in Melbourne and as you know it gets a little cold in Winter - its about 5C in the mornings. And it gets a very hot in the Summer -
40C.
At the moment I'm using Valvoline XLD Premium SAE20W-50 API SJ/CF. I just buy three 1 litre bottles because it makes it easier to estimate the 2.5l
and easier pour out. I don't like using funnels... its so much simpler to use the bottle then chuck it away, leaving nothing behind to drip oil or
clug up the garage.
I am not particular about the cost - I change the oil every three months or 3000 miles and I don't have any problem paying a little extra for a
premium oil - so long as it does its job well. Relatively speaking, it doesn't really matter- the cost in petrol dwarfs the money we spend on engine
oil.
What's a good oil to use in the Summer and Winter? Can I keep on using the same Valvoline oil?
And 2nd question - should I add in 100ml of extra oil to compensate for the oil filter?
Cheers!

Yes add extra oil to compensate for the filter and lines.
Are you sure the noise isnt a bearing noise coming from the gearbox??
