I have a problem!!! No power at coil motor turns over but nothing happens. When i connect a wire from the ignition switch direct to the coil The motor starts fine but when I go to turn the key off but motor keeps on running until I pull the wire off. Please help as I am quickly going insane.

i have splitty ones which are very nearly the same as the early german type 3's 'but' the type 3's have a inch long mounting bar so the screw holds it in place, which the splitty ones dont, will alloy welding 'melt' the inside seagul?
