Wanted: Mechanic

I am near morisset NSW (between newcastle and Gosford)

I know there is a guy at toronto, but we took it to him when we first got it, knowing nothing about VW's, and asked him to 'make sure it is OK' and 2 weeks later it caught fire. It might be unfair to blame him for this..anyone else dealt with him?

Does anyone know anyone else in the area that they have dealt with that is good?

The fire could happen to anyone - particularly with a mechanical pump. There a few things to do to reduce the chance but it can still happen.

Sorry to hear about it - hope it was contained....

Yeah, we were lucky that my wife (who was driving..and hasn't since...) was passing though a town, and someone from a shop came out with a fire extinguisher. I was just undercoated at the time, so we had to do a new paint job anyway. However didn't do good prep on it, and now have a bit of a mess to fix up with rust. I am going to get into it once daylight saving returns, and there is enough light to ride my pushy to the train station, aand have the bug off the road for a few days at a time.

Ben Durie is up your way some where. Do a web search. He is supposed to be quite good.

On a side note. I bought my buggy from Toronto originally. Long time ago now. I am surprised he is still there.
