twin circuit master cylinder bore?

does anyone know the bore diameter of the 1500-1600/type 3, twin circuit, brake master cylinder?

is it 23mm or 19mm or what?

I have one to suit the type 3 rear brakes I have, but I think it's the same as the beetle units.

Only reply if you know for sure please. I am trying to fix my brake bias issues and I need exact figures.

yep type 1 and 3 are the same 19mm.

And the rear wheel cylinders are also 19mm

If you are looking the play with the bias the easiest way to do that is with different sized wheel cylinders.

Another point of interest is a Porshe 944 Master Cylinder apparently has a different bore for front and rear of the dual circuit.

For more info on Changing over your master cylinder and a few more options that could be considered check this site out:

By no means complete, but interesting all the same.

I actually can't do anything with wheel cylinders coz I already have 23mm cyls in my rear type 3 wagon breaks, and the front brakes are discs.:(

But,

I have found a solution to the bias issue I think. I have a Volks conversions front disc set up and after talking to John Sherman, I am using the next size smaller bore Mazda caliper (than the one I have now).

This will also improve the pedal feel abit too, should only cost around $100. And I can keep the bugger calipers for later if I ever want to go to monster discs on the back. My engineer is happy with this too... :thumb

But thanx for the tips. Buggies are an enigma to even the most experienced dubber, so it's nice to have some experienced people on hand.
