Type IV cylinder heads
I'm just starting a rebuild of a 2L type IV for my Kombi. From my reading, mainly the http://www.shoptalkforums.com, I've decided I want to get stock heads but with bigger values (42x36).
Can anyone suggest a good source or a path to go down ?
I my current heads are shot so I need new heads. Got a price of A$500 each but I don't know of a shop that can work the head for the bigger valves or
the price. Any suggestions ?
I've also considered getting heads from the States. I've got a rough price of US$300 inclusive, and these come with the bigger values by a quality
shop.
The US price is very tempting, but I've already had 1 bad experience with an overseas supplier.
Any suggestions?

Yes - give Vintage or V Force a call.
They know Type 4 motors.
Bigger valves by them selves on a otherwise stock set up seems a little strange??
But.......

I had 1800 valves installed into my 2L heads by Conti engines up at bribie island north of brissy.
You may have already seen it but here is some info on type IV heads:
http://www.tunacan.net/t4/tech/heads.htm
seems that from all my research it would be ideal to go with 914 heads due to combustion chamber shape, valve size and spark plug location...but not
many around here in oz unfortunately!

The US price is very good, I paid more for a standard head. If that is inclusive of shipping, I don't think you would get a better price locally,
but give it a try.

US shop is Adrian at Headflow Master.
The bigger values are just part of the bigger plan. Mild cam (probably a webcam), Kadrons & extractor exhaust.
