Colour dilemna
OK if you were thinking of going classic dark blue with the paint what colour upholstery would you choose?
None of the mag's or books give a good indication of what looks good or is done
Lots of exterior shots but not much of what's inside. Very frustrating:cussing
I have an idea but would like peoples thoughts as to what works for them |

I had a dark blue 67 beetle and the interior was a light to mid grey colour it is a good combo and I always say original is best
the other colour option would be black and with a dark window tint it would be nice(you would need the tint to stop burning up).come to think of it no
matter what colour interior you chose dark tinted windows would look neat with dark blue! oh and lots of chrome :bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce

my 65 resto is Dark SEA BLUE n i have Bright Red interior with dark grey carpets...
Looks good. and its nearly finished.

Just sitting outside and thinking (dangerous)
Was trying to imagine slate colours. Sort of Bluey grey black, not light grey or black, maybe with black piping?
Too dark?
Had been thinking totally original but I'm really wavering.

The Galactic Blue New Beetle has a tan (beige) interior, but I really don't like light colored interiors. Monsters to keep clean.
In the UK, Marlin Blue can be had with a black leather interior:

Marlin Blue - outside...
You can see the black leather peeping through the tinted windows. I think this is the effect silver was noting as being desirable.

Woke up this morning thinking that I was going too dark.
Bel at the moment is a bright happy colour, don't want to make her too somber. But then again it could look classy?
Andrew, yeh, beige would be hard to keep clean I would imagine.
Maybe a cheery colour inside to contrast with the dark outside? |

i'd do a white interior.. or slightly offwhite, and have dark blue inserts...
either that or i'd go with andrew and say beige.

My bug is an off white colour (I think it's called alabaster), with blood red vinyl interior. I'll try and get some pics up. I say go with
original colour schemes, they help give that retro look.

My sunroof will be either gulf blau or Capri blue, with red and white uph! Its what the car had from new! (exterior was gulf blau) The seats will have
red fronts, and white sides and rear!, Carpets will be camel around the outer sides, and mats will be black!!!!! Looks god damn good!!!! hehe

The seats I've got are the original type for a '58 beetle.
Drove all the way to work thinking about it.

There is a link in the web page of the month bit that has original bug and ghia color themes..it quite the site
I, for JOE, my 66' kombi, am going with light blue top half and paddle pop brown bottom half, with color coded symbol, and wheels, and bumpers,
the interior is already wood panaled...soon..soon

Yes Aussie beetle colours were different to the uS and the UK... the UK tried to satisfy everyone with different colours every few years and there
doesn't seem to be much variety in Aussie Beetles.
Talking interior Colours.. Are We talking Vinyl Here??? or Leather!! or Velour?? If You can't make up Your Mind Jen, Polar White with White
Vinyl Interior... looks great on those US 1979 Karmann Cabrios.
Stick with a Light colour Jen.. cooler in the summer heat and safer on the road...:o:thumb:bounce

these do wonders for me.
NOT!
The bus is black ribbed velour, and that is nice, but for some reason cat hairs show up on it all the time, and the cat is never in there.
I think just being within a 2km radius is close enough for cat fur to get on black velour.
The EH has mid-dark grey patterned velour kind of a saw tooth pattern in the velour instead of plain ribbed.
Some of the colour flecked grey inserts look good without being over the top.

the colours i painted my splitty in are Bahama Blue and Polar White both VW colours from the 60,s the Bahama is a Beetle Colour and the Polar a
colour used for both beetles and Kombi's.It was quite a tough decision to choose a colour .i hope you like it

Guess I'm not into whether they are Aussie colours or not just trying to get ideas.
Hmmm, know the dark colours absorb the heat and are less easy to see of a night (safety issue) but I do like the dark blue
Vinyl due to the budget (leather in my dreams). Velour not, 'cos I do have a tendence to get wet occasionally e.g. cruise up to Albury. Col and I
soaked in the Goulburn River while we waited for Andrew to meet up in Seymour. It was nice having the wind through the vent window hitting the wet
clothes, very cool Have also been known to through myself into the surf
clothes and all (I have a history!)
Bel will remain a daily driver and not necessarily a show car. She has to be practical for me.
