The Type 4 crank has several bolts attaching the drive plate or flywheel while the 1600 Type 1 only has the main crank bolt so teh drive plates wont interchange on the engine

I would say that VW being tight arses didnt change the PCD of the bolt attach point to the torque converter.... so it will prob fit

yeah from memory the Type 4 flex plate bolts to teh flywheel using 5 bolts like the flywheel...

so i would be trying the wreckers.... but ask for teh PCD first and how many attach points tehre are to the torque converter.... but ask i said VW might not have changed.

hope it works

The bolt pattern is the same as for a Type 4 flywheel, but the bolts themselves are different.
