High amb temperature...no fuel flow
Holley pump with blue regulator, twin IDF 44 Webers on a 1916.
Heading to the drags last night in 36 deg temperatures. Had to wait at a set of lights for about 10 mins and when I took off I got about 400 mtrs up
the road and the car stopped. No fuel pressure.....
Plenty of fuel in the tank.......Quick call to Boris at Vintage Vee Dub.
Placed a wet rag on the Holley fuel pump for a while and presto, fuel pressure again and off we go.
I guess it was the pump running almost dead headed (idling only) against the regulator managed to get the fuel temp up in the pump and it reached the
vapour pressure of the fuel resulting in pump cavitation and no flow.
I guess the fix would be to keep running the engine up from idle if stationary at the lights during high temps.
Does anyone run a regulator return system back to the tank?

That's got me thinking about the same thing - an EFI-style fuel return 'loop' to prevent big rises in temperature at the pump... Might have to do
some more thinking, methinks... I think!
