You have just been given $50K to spend on anything VW.
What would you spend it on?

i would spend it on a Mint Mk1 Golf GTi and then buy another one for every day use and modify it

1976 Mk1 Golf 4door, 1.8l GTI engine with big valve head, Spax PSX sprint kit and a single 45mm dellorto DHLA.

I'd buy Wes' Baja and paint it Holden Tiger Brown.

By the wife a black ACon'ed Cab KG with lots of bass.

And start a resto on a low split bus painted cream and red with Merc buckets and a non-naturally aspirated type 4 making traction difficult on dry surfaces in every gear.

With the change I'd get a subscription for as long as I could - which would be probably one or two copies.

Firstly, 4.5 were only offered only in 1967, and no they werent the spare!!!
You can try Porsche dealers, but I dont think you will get any!!! They are as rear as rockin horse shiat, so they are snapped up b4 they even get to them!!! Just have to look on ebay, or be very lucky!! They are very $$$$
But they look the part, so worth trying to get them!!!!

Hey Unity28,
I did'nt know that about the Fuchs! Wow!
I have seen 'em on a lot of feature cars in US mags, now I know why. They do look the part when running 145 front runners on Vdubz, slammed.

Will keep an eye out for them or anyone wrecking a 67 911...

Cheers(!)

i don't get the thing about skinny front tyres? whats the point?

I would continue my IRS pan swap, get some 6X16 front and 7x16 fuchs polished with maybe ventilated CSP or porsche 944 discs up front with 944 discs out back. Build up a 2.5 litre type 4 with 911 shoud, nikasil cylinders JE forged pistons, EFI. track race it and drive it on the street.

then i would buy a Splitty to drive around, preferably a 23/21 window (i wish) and if not a 15/13 window or a double cab. Slam it on airbags either Fuchs or Stock 2 tones. Front roof rack, safaris, black up top and red on the bottom, with deluxe trim. mmmm

The thing about skinny front tyres is the look! They look nuts!!! I like the look of the cars in the "german folks" Klub in the states! Thats the look im going for, So I like em!!! Its got that "tubbed" front end look, and with a narrowed beam, it looks even better! But thats only my opinion!!! And thats what Im doing to my car!!! You must remember, Original tires arnt much ier than these!!!

If I did ever do that, I think I'd need the 50K to hire bodyguards to protect me.

But seriously if I had 50K, I'd buy a nice original oval, and a Karmann Ghia convertible.

Pat, would they be those coool 14 inch hotwires with 265x65 tyres!?
Seriously, Id probably really try to go down the "other" VW route. A car that would look similar to the avitar in matara's profile. YEP! 356. I know, I know. Id be pushin' it but I didnt say a mint one! or hang, hang on! Id probably try to grovel to Pete and purchase either of his cars that he is renowned for!!:kiss:kiss heehee..

I think i'd travel around Oz looking for the abused, neglected and abandoned Splities and Oval children...get them back home where they will be slowly nursed back to health with some nice new warm oil and rust preventative. To be enjoyed for future generations.....
