Haven't found any dead snails yet. motor goes well and powers up a/c and power steering, and cruises well.

he's got a point, that motor conversion would have to be worth at least $10k on it's own and synchro's are rare, especially crewcab utes.

BTW, gp how is the g/box coping with all that extra mumbo?

Its an awesome conversion, good usable torque, great freeway cruising speeds.

After having put 5 separate types of motors in these thing, this is by far the best setup.

And its all Audi / Passat standard engine parts - available everywhere.

Oh, it also has more ground clearance than a 2.1........

no probs with gearbox- I drive it pretty conservatively, had gearbox rebuilt at same time. Guy at Hardings did all the work, and did a great job.

Sorry to be pedantic folks but.......

A syncHro is part of a transmission. :cussing

A Syncro is the name given (by VW) to their 4x4 vehicles using the viscous coupling system of all wheel drive ( T3's, T4's, Golfs, Passats and maybe some others???)

Got it?

That is a good question Brad. Diff locks drastically improve a Syncro's off road ability IMHO.
Of course, they can be retrofitted.

Bay isn't for sale per say ... just always wanted a Syncro D/C and my wife tells me I can't buy without selling.

Diff locks can be retro fitted but you need to be sitting down when you ask for a price..
