The glass in my 50 yo safaris were rooted so I has some made by GJames here in Syd they are the same thickness as original and stamped as compliant, I
also took the oportunity to get tinted glass.
I don't know why you should be having a problem?

your other option, is you make a template. take it to a glass plass, even for shower screens, get it done in saftey or tempered, and then fit
yourself.
even obriens can cut it. they jsut cant know what its for. they are not allowed to fit non reg glass.

Generally,
It goes like this - you can fit original glass provided it is etched
with the 'AS1' or 'AS2' standard (no matter who the manufacturer.....Sekurit, Sigla (not generally here) or Armourfloat (Pilkington) etc etc).
HOWEVER, most (all?) original safari glass will not pass the
viewability/visibility requirements (no scratches, chips, abrasion) of
current Victorian RWC requirements (at least).
If you REPLACE the glass the new glass must meet current
ADRs which require 3 layer laminated glass about 6.3mm
thick. I ALWAYS get the etching with it saying it meets
AS2080 (current ASA standard required by ADRs), although
a receipt stating so, or a sticker SHOULD be sufficient (what do you do when the RWC tester or licencing authority asks 'How do I know this receipt
is for this glass?....').
The 6.3 WON'T fit in safari frames with stock rubbers. Use generic window sealing rubber or something like and old inner tube as a seal.....
You turn up with the required laminated glass, properly etched
and no-one can touch you or defect you or your safaris...
Most decent glass suppliers can supply and cut the glass
required. I can post you a template for stock safari glass
(or Creatives) if you need it - won't work for the US repros
cos they're different....

looks like i have to wait longer for the bugs in my teeth.
just tried to fit my new glass the min req glass width is 6.2 mm the creative frame slot is 7mm no chance for any type of gasket.
just used silicon but the tolerance is to small and the corner gap is even thinner so the glass cracked in three differant spots
even if i could get it in without cracking the slightest presure on the frames would surley crack the glass
$170 bucks down the drain
has any one had this pob
looks like i have to get some thinner glass cut.

Here's one we prepared earlier
Dave,
I think Bob's saying that he doesn't think ANY form of seal would fit in.....
I personally wouldn't assemble without some form of
seal but if I did I'd leave the glass 'floating', assemble and then squirt
in sealer around the edges.
Laminated glass is very brittle in certain planes. Two possibilities
(1) It wasn't well cut and had some 'sharp' edges that propagated stress risers
(2) With no seal at all you 'banged' the glass against the frame
when assembling and shocked it in its brittle plane.
I assemble them with a seal and floor clamps. If you want a thinner seal
perhaps bike tube? Moe expensive ones are very thin and durable.
Stretch the seal out prior to assembly.
Pic of assembled creative safari with 6.X laminated glass

The magic etching for new glass required under ADRs which 'call out'
AS2080.

Shot showing glass with seal fitting in frame.

As a caveat my wife says I should mention that I have a bad habit of making/describe things
seem as if they're easier than they really might be *(thanks for that Chrissy)*!
regards
RobK

I can read 57kombi but it seams you can't ,in my post i say that i just use silicon as there is no room for any type of seal .
after cracking the glass i tryed a piece in one of the corners and it won't fit seams that the gap in one of the corners of the frame is smaller than
the rest i am going to open it up with a rotary tool
thanks
