Venting valve covers
I have a beather box that i'm thinking of connecting up to the valve covers. I have seen this done to many cars but have a few questions.
EXACTLY why is it done?
Where do you buy the vents that fit on the covers ?
Where do they fit on the covers?

i bin told its done to relieve pressure in the heads whether this pressure forces oil where its not ment to go or prevents it from going where its
ment to go is the thing.
a feind just completed it on his 1600tp by welding in short bits of tube vertical toward a corner of the rocker cover and hose connects to that. goes
to a breather box filled with stainles steel wool to trap the puss which is then connected to a nice little stainelss or chrome breather filter off a
harley (best thing for a harley IMHO, is donate bits to a VW).

Breather BOX & Hoses ***
You see the tappet covers with attachment pipes for sale every now & then plus they are available new...
I believe it balances the pressure... something more important for a modified engine... Make sure the hoses etc are large enough... 10mm is the
minimum hose size...
Many people run these breathers in their Beetles...
It can't hurt anything.... and may stop some of the frothing/foaming of engine oil....

I have them fitted to my type 4 motor which was done by the factory in the early '80's. Can't say I've noticed any difference.
I never found any supporting evidence to say they are needed either, they just came on my new heads.
