Compliance Plate?
Hey all, Im putting a 69 IRS pan under my 57 Oval.
What kind of official paperwork do I have to get to make sure I can register the car ok?
Compliance plate?
I intend to put a much larger engine in it eventually. Maybe a 1776, a 1916 or a 2100.
Any help would be great, thanks all.

all you need is the 69 vin number change engine numbers when replacing motor and the car will be registered as a 1969 might need a engineers report.
I,m using a 74 pan under a 1956 body and the car will be registered as a 74 but this is for vic reg.

As no one has jumped in, I'll try this one. From what I believe, your rego will go by the VIN which is located under your back seat, not by the body
plate behind the spare. I have seen a few people here commenting that they have done similar to you - older body on a younger pan - and their car has
suddenly lost some age.
I think all they'll do (maybe depending on state) is use your pan VIN as the data and list your car as a 69, I don't believe there is anything else
to do for this as far as paperwork. Don't forget, that if your car suddenly becomes a younger model (57 becomes a 69) there might be some things you
have to add, eg seatbelts, etc, that the 57 might not already have.
As far as engines, I believe (and its very limited knowledge here) that if you change an engine, you need to get an engineers certificate to show that
its roadworthy.
I'm only guessing on this, not gospel......anyone else shoot me down and help Gibbo?

I would check to see that it does not come under a rebodied complience. Which I think is LH6.
Being all the bits are VW and I guess bolt straight together you would probably get away without that but i would be interested to see what the totaly
legal way is???
If it goes under LH6 then there is a shit load of work for it to comply correctly. Just ring the Main Roads if you want to check out the rules for
sure.
