Type3 '72 speaker
Have a 72 Squareback and need advice on how to access the in-dash speaker. Dash has slight cracking around where the speaker grill is located. I
could probably just wrench it out but don't want to bugger up the dash or break the grill.
Surely there is a proper way to do this?? Appreciate any advice........

Hate to ask stupid questions, but are you sure there is a speaker in there. I think they were an optional extra and alot of cars have the vent and
grill but no actual speaker. If you do have a speaker, to access it you will need to go in under the dash. Lie on your back on the floor and look up
under the dash. Do you have an original radio or an aftermarket head unit? If so these will probably have to come out to gain access
It will probably be necessary to remove the plastic air tubes going from the fresh air box to the vents on the dash to remove the speaker. Just look
around under the dash with a torch and see how the speaker is attached and what is blocking access or removal. As I've never had a type 3 with the
speaker intact, I don't know exactly what is required to remove it, but it cann't be harder than pulling the fresh air box, which is pretty easy.
