gears popping out

ok all you kombi guys n gals, i need some advice.

my gears pop out (ie pop into neutral) right in the middle of driving (usually when I'm in third or fourth) every now and then.
It wasn't so bad at the start, but its doing it more often now, and I'm just wondering if this is normal? or does this mean something is goin wrong? (i hope not :S)

thnx!

our bus started like that, then got worse and then on a trip we ended up losing fourth completely. couldnt select and couldnt keep. replaced the box.

you are probably heading down that path, dodge.

it will go on for a while b4 it goives out. i think we drove ours for aoubt 10-12months. jsut needed a piece of string with some elastic end. we had it tied tot eh deat and when we put it in forth, jsut put the lead on. was better than holding the stick all the time. it finally went when wwe did a trip to dubbo wiht five people, three of which were very large, and all luggage.

yeah been great, too much happening. xmas was good, and newsyear up here a lot quieter than in sydney but still good.

say you were spending some time in brissie, you liking it?

oh and jsut start savinga few pennies, or keep an eye out for a box cheap, and grab one when you can. at least you are getting warned and time to prepare, unlike other failures.

yeah twoguns, i'm loving brisbane....
well, actually, more like, I am loving the job. I haven't had the chance to do much cruisin around Brisbane, as by the time I get home in the evening its dinnertime, and I leave early.
And then weekends, I'm back in Toowoomba! Phew! So no time for socializing in the big smoke unfortunately but I'm lovin it all the same :D

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll start saving now!! :(

usually they pop out when the engine is under load and under revving. for instance doing 1900 revs going up a hill in 4th. so try to use your gears well and dont get lazy and so something like two guns suggested and make a catch to hold it in gear.

also have a look at the front gearbox mount. Sometimes that is all it takes, because the box moves up and pulls it out of gear......

is it easy to fix ......yeah, if thats all it is:thumb
