Anyone run Twin Kadrons on a standard 1600tp?

If you do, what is it like compared to the stock single carby?

do you get better fuel consumption and power?

I did run them on a stock 1600cc tp
And found a dramatic improvement on power,
But they chew more fuel though

My Beetle had a stock 1600tp with the twin Kads,
and it use to give my mates silvia with an SR20DET engine it a fair run for its money, but as soon as i hit 4th the silvia would leave me for dead.
The 1 advantage the Kads have over the webers is that you tune them and they are fine up to your next service.
But with the webers they drop out of tune all the time.

If you want a good set of Kadrons contact Rod penrose.
He has brand new ones and second hand one that he is selling

I've never seen anyone use a single Kadron.
Has it been done?

I've had them on 1600tp and sp and the power gain is unreal compare to stock. The first drive seams like power on tap.

Good cheapish mod.

I've run a set on a stock 1600tp for a while and they're great.
Power hike is well worth it.
The fuel consumtion only goes up a noticable amount if you've got your foot in it all the time.
Which I'd never do.............:thumb

Some of the guys on shop talk forums were talking about a single mount kadron. Theres no reason why you couldnt do it, just run an adaptor to a std manifold.

I'm not sure why you would do it though, a progressive 2bbl webber is a much better option if you want to go single carb

Kads, 009 and Thunderbird extractors are a good upgrade for a 1600 - I ran one like that for a few thousand kays. Didn't check for fuel consumption but it should improve if you don't cane it

Mmmmm a single kadron, are you for real, I mean why would you bother you'd get better results from a baked been can, or a holey shitspray, no the holey would be worse.
As for the last post imagine this if if you put on a real set of exstractors and a really well tuned webber or even a stock carb you would would have an extra thousand k's out of it.

You people worry me.

By the way Jo looks cute how bout we get together

Yeah, Kadrons are basically a big, grown-up Solex design made in Brazil. There were twin little Solexs (maybe a 28mm bore??) used on Type 3s. What we call Kadrons are 40mm thorugh the guts and are a drop-on 'package' for Beetle engines
