Want Some Advice on new project....

hey all first off thanxs for lookin at my post....ok i recently sold my 68 type3 square and since selling have had afew different jap cars but miss the sweet old skool style.

so i have started lookin for a new project which will end up being my daily driver i no it sounds weird but cant afford runin two cars.

wat i need info on is the cars i have sorted it down to..

here are the different cars:

1st. 911/912 69ish porsche....i no the 912 also came out in america in 76 with a volkswagen motor which is probably what i am after...does anyone no if u can get them here? if so roughly how much?

2nd. Split window single cab kombi.

3rd. pre 69 type 3 notchback

i like the old skool porsche cuz they pretty much a vw...i am a student so i dont really have a massive bugdet...just tryin to see wat i am goin to get myself into....i might put some pics up of type 3 just to show wher i comin from
and if anybody has any info or feed back plz feel free to put up ur opinion or thoughts....

thanxs Steven...
Sorry for a long post and if i didn make sense.

it might be the 914 you're looking for?

Hey Steve,

Steve here (who bought your squareback, and had to sell it dues to finances earlier this year).

Man, of the 3 you've listed, I'd go the pre-69 notchback...especially if your budget is tight. I reckon a tidy Single cab splitty would be nice but is gonna cost you for a semi-decent restorable example, and the Porsche is gonna be up there with cost also.

There are a few, decent early notches for sale on here (but all NSW/Canberra from memory).

Just my 2 cents worth, but an old school notch, slammed just a little with whitewalls and a wooden roofrack would look the goods IMHO.

How is you brother's 58 resto coming along?

you can try the AU Porsche clubs - though they are a snotty crew to get info out of when I was looking. I was looking for a 912 a few years ago. Dead hard to come by. Found that early 911s we're more common, but I liked the simplicity of the 912.

Have a friend in the UK with a 914 money pit. Hard enough to get parts there let alone here. Spent an absolute fortune on it and was a pretty 'ordinary' ride I thought, given the money he'd blown on it.

Good luck though, can't see a single cab being a cheap option either (done well)....though I'd feel happier having a go grinding up at a splitter than a 911/2.

you will find the 912 will end up soaking up your $$ to get it up to scratch
split ute will cost $$ to find one in decent condition
with out requiring a shit load of work
type3 sounds like the most feasible option
