Help with SEATS!!!

Have a 1971 superbug and i want to fit some better seats, preferably that go back a bit further as im a big guy, but i still need them to go close to the wheel aswell as im not the only person that drives the car, what sort of seats has anyone adapted into their bugs?
Cheers

there are two ways you can do this.

the legal way, and
the not so legal way.

Legal: buy the seats you want and get them welded or attached somehow to the same type of runners that you have now. Once you have done this, find and engineer to have a look over them and tell you whether or not they are right or not. Once they are right, the engineer will sign them off and you can get issued a compliance plate for your seats and be on your merry way. An engineer might cost somewhere in the vancinity of $300 alone.

Not so: do the same as above, just leave out the engineer part.

i went with honda seats intially. yeah i had the same problem, as iam 6'1 and the other driver at the time was 5'4 so made it interesting. but if you play aorund with it you should be right. I was teaching a friend who is 5'2 to drive, ended up using pillows!!

i now run aerotech semi race style seats which sit 70mm lower than standard. also remember if the seats are lower they will have to back even futher other wise you knee will be bent more.

but jsut play aorund with them to find a spot which works for both.

i used old bases, welded some flat on and then bolted the new seats on. got them blue plated, as i was not modifying the seat base. also make sure you use the correct grade bolts. cost $80ish dollars for the blue plate.
