Heavy Metal?

I can understand why baja kits are made of fibreglass in terms of ease of manufacture and so on but why hasn't anyone made metal ones in the same style? personally i'd rather have a dint than lots of cracked glass.

How hard do ya reckon it'd be to do a set? I mean properly not some hack job.

just wondering...

true but you could get the edges rolled or use rubber stripping to prevent that. and are they really heavier?

yeah for sure you could do it, i was just thinkin of reasons why not... yeah it would be a bit of extra weight i reckon... not what you want on a baja..

yeah most kits are to thin
i mean they are ment to flex but around the edges of the guards always crack and there is not point boging the cracks on a baja
but they will never rust!
maybe if someone made a kit with vinyl resin woven mat and extra around the edges would be alot better and cost 2X the price :) and harder to make
it's all about $$$ how much do u want to put out ?

Ahhh, RUST
That would have been the Main reason For using glass..

Also Buggys are supposed to be Home Made and Glass requires minimum Tools.

carbon fibre if splintered is extremly dangerous to inhale. i feel your pain lee. ive got some nasty gashes in the guards on my baja. i just live with them. u can cut stock guards up and make some metal ones but they would be too skinny. i personally dont think its worth worrying about. and if u have some decent bar work on your baja then the weight is already back up to a stock bug prolly anyway. on my car its just another dent. or scratch. i dont get concerned.
