71 Notch - in the works - slowlyyyy...
Hi all,
Here is my 71 Notch. Still requires a lot of work, but have not found the time yet. Have had it for 2 years now and the only thing I have done,
besides regular maintenance, is add the fuch replicas and new tyres.

Thanks. I keep seeing websites/pictures/stories of people restoring their Vdubs and I don't know how they do it timewise and moneywise. I spend
time making sure it's running sweet, but not time to even install the carpet that I have stored for over a month.
*sigh* one day.

Nice ride. Loads of potential. You'll find that if you keep reading stuff on here it's inevitable that you'll start playing with your ride and
"finding" time and money to support your habit. Have fun!

Hey Nige, I am running 195/50-15 on 5.5 width rims. When I had the stock tyre/wheel combo the front used to rub and I neer had a full lock. When I
changed to wider wheels/tyres combo but lower profile tyre, I have no rubbing anymore. The 2.0 fuchs are great because the backspace or offet (I
always foget which is which) is close to stock type3 rims which are very different than beetles.
Ege, I have been a lurker and sometimes post in thesamba.com and the Type3 list ( http://www.vwtype3.org ), in fact, I have been alurker of VW sites for a number of years, but it's not until now that I am
out of the VW closet:thumb However, I still have not managed to convince my wife that spending money and time on my notch is a good thing, no matther
how many :kiss I give. I will keep trying tho - like I will keep dubbin

Thanks. You have any pics of yours? I dig the way my notch sits with low profile tyres, but the ride is harsh as anything, damn Sydney roads.

Yeah Aaron (type3kid) tell him what happens with wide rims on a car that low. On the rear anyway. Hell I'll tell him. The spring plate area slowly
eats into the side of the tire and oneday it breaks through and rips a 2 inch gash all the way around. Then you have to call someone to come and save
you. LOL. That was me by the way. Raise it back up Aaron. To a sensible level. :thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb

That would be a nasty experience. Especially if the car is so low that a jack won't fit under. Hey Aaron, the pic of yours did not show.
