What year was front engined Kombi/transporter first started in Aussie

Hi All,
Don't know if this is the right forum but I am starting to look for a Camper and need a front engined conversion. So I was wondering when the front engined Kombi/transporter was first imported into Aussie? I need the flat rear as I am planning on putting a motorbike up in the back between the kitchen/bed/storage. Or maybe I will have to look at one of the other van type conversions.

Cheers
