Triple Cab- Electrical Fault, no spark## HELP##
Tried to get the Triple Cab going again today armed with a circuit tester and my daughter helping in the cab connecting wires to get the motor to turn
over. There are tow 'live wires' a thin green one and a thick red one. There is also a thick red one that is not live and a bl/red one that is not
live. I'm hopeless on electrics.
The ignition is disconnected and wires are everywhere. There is power going to the coil and coming out of the coil feebly. There is no spark showing
on the no1 plug that i took out. Any suggestions??
I put the circuit tester on the points- dizzy cap off of course, but though it lights up when the motor is tuned there is still no spark. The points
do open as i have checked that.
Am I to assume that the coil is no good and it is not putting enough power through?
The battery is a brand new one i bought and it is a 11 plate one that is used for V8 holden/ford's.
i went inside and got the workshop manual out so will have a good look at the circuit...this is going to be a painful process
Any ideas guys???

hmmmm..... try simplyfying it all first of all i reckon..
get positive battery wire goin from battery to starter. have negative battery cable earthed. make sure engine/geabox has the earth lead connected
somewhere to the chassis/body.
have wire goin from battery to coil
now short out the starter and get it turnin over. should run if timing is right. that will tell you soon enought if the coil or whatever is workin
right.
otherwise... make sure ALL terminals and mounting points are clean and not rusty/corroded, including where wires enter into terminals... that kills a
lot of power.. good luck..
everything dies baby, thats a fact..
maybe everything that dies one day comes back..
put your make up on and your hair up pretty..
and meet me tonight in Atlantic city..

Electrics*****
The condenser on the side of the Distributor 009 or inside on older original dizzies...
This has to be connected to the points to get a spark....
Make sure the coil is connected correctly, Coils are usually marked + & -
ie + positive to the power... &
- minus to the condenser/points...
a coil can work when wired back to front but NOT as well....
Clean the inside of the distributor cap & Rotor button with WD40 or similar..
Are the contacts on the points nice & clean or pitted or burnt??
these can be cleaned easily with a points file...
Just stick the file between the points and file away until they are smooth....
Rotor buttons can burn out as they have a resistor built into them....
Turn the distributor cap upside down & make sure the carbon contact is still in the centre of the cap...
pull the high tension leads going to the spark plugs and check they are connected....
they should be individually checked to make sure the spark can go from one end to the other...
