Obvious newb question-What's a semi-auto?
Flamesuit on?
I'm looking getting a VW beetle for the wife as it's long been her dream to have one. I've only ever been in or seen manuals.
After reading adverts etc and poking around here I see that VW's come in a semi-auto configuration. What's the go? I've only ever worked on fully
auto or stick shift so pardon the dumb question.
How does it work from a driving perspective? Clutch pedal for engagement with non-clutched changes?:duh
TIA people...

Sort of like pre-cursor to the modern tiptronics.
Has a gear stick but no clutch pedal

they have 3 speeds ,just take your hand off the shift whilst driving as they go back to neutral when the stick is touched

i drive a semi-auto... just a clutchless shift
Low gear, then first range, and second range.. you just tke your foot off accellerator, and slam it from one gear to the next
they were designed to make driving easier and attract the female market apparently..

My mates bought a new commodore, and its got semi-auto. Apparently, its like a 4x4 where you can selected manual (which is tip-tronic on the steering
wheel without a clutch) or full auto.

That's different altogether. It's not semi-auto.
