the machine marks were still in the bore , the only thing I could say was .

carbon in the inlet and on top of pistions and valves
big end had failed due to the above ( may be ) ?

Subaru have a cleaner in a can for the carbon clean .

Do you have any more info on this? If I walk into my local Subaru parts outlet what do I ask for?

Maybe we should be putting catchcans on the crankcase breathers. Interesting.

You ask for mechanic in a can head decarbonizer. They will know what you mean. This stuff works wonders. We did one engine before a tear down and it looked like new inside on the side that we did and crap on the other side. It is reccomended every 40000km from memory.Have already done the ute. Is also good in vw engines.:thumb

So do I get it from Subaru, or do I get it from Supercheap/AutoBahn etc?

"SuperRoo" made a product that comes in a aerosol can. It is a type of carby or head cleaner that you spray through the throttle body with the engine running.

Get it from Repco and the like.

"SuperRoo" is the brand name of a similar product. It has a picture of a cartoon 'roo with tyres as legs, doing a burnout.

Sounds like it is a good investment to keeping things nice and clean. It is good when there is a product that is not too expensive in the grand scale of engines and you only have to use it every 40,000km.

be sure to check the wires that run to your air flow sensor Hellbus , many subarus that have been crashed have a problem of over fueling the sustem on start up , I have now seen three putting raw fuel into the sump and washing the pistions ! all due to the air flow maping and blowing shit loads of black smoke

O any one needs some thined out subaru oil give me a yell !
like 1.5 lts of fuel in the sump

I know what you mean. Lucky the motor we have got has not been in a front smash.

The Limo I built had a faulty airflow meter used and the sump got filled with heaps of petrol, so I have seen that effect and it is not good for the oil.
