type 3 wheels

regarding alternative wheels for 4 stud type 3,s
what mags fit with the proper offset etc
what problems has anyone had when lowering their fasty
with the common vw type mags eg empis
also does anyone know who manufacturers a wide steel wheel say 5.5" or 6"(if it fits under guards) but without the holes as on standard wheels.
like the hot rod look ie white walls, painted rim(red),original hubcaps and chrome dress rim
comments tips would be appreciated.
also has anyone put early type 3 bumper on front of later type 3? how did you do it?
I put the early bumper with the overriders on the back using the early brackets with a gentle squeeze outwards. It looks heaps better than the later bumpers.
have taken the number plate light fiiting off and filled holes as well. Will mount the number plate below the bumper with an aftermarket number plate light. Not sure of the legality but it is South Australia we don't have rego inspections yet:

For most of the mods you're asking about, have a look at "dannyboy's square" topic in the "members rides" section... He's done a few things to make his car look like an earlier model such as putting earlier bumpers on it..

You want mags with an offset close to the stock one. Look at this page for more info:
http://www.icbm.org/erkson/ttt/rims.html  Make sure you read to the bottom for suggestions on rims.

I have 4" Sprint Stars on my Type 3 with 145s on the front and 165s on the Rear.

The Front has been Lowered 1 notch and the rear about 10 degrees (about 1.5" drop all round")

I'm most happy as I can turn lock to lock with no scraping etc, but it's basically sitting on the bump stops which is far from ideal and I wouldn't recommend lowering a T3 much more unless it's NOT a daily driver.
