removable rear (pics)
Here a few pics of something to consider for your conversion,
it would make it really easier to work on the bug. I might do it with my next project. Pulling and installing the engine would be so easy.

Thats a pretty good idea, it would make it way easier to get the dam engine out. Good on ya.
Does the valance sit nicely back on the body? Does it still fit back on strongly?

Thats not just the valance, thats most of the engine bay...
Heres mine, drilled out spot welds (ONLY the valance.. not most of the rear end like in that pic.. looks more like they are making a baja) and trimmed
it up.
Welding new flanges on the sides with solid holes so the fender bolts hold it in place.

With ovals more cutting is needed if not moving gear box forward.Late model like yours 72RSbug lot more room for playing.The pulley covers should miss
buy a inch all 2.Ask Jako (skaife) Rizzo ,hes done a road going version,best example to go by.You could ask also bajawes quiet a smart bloke as
