Scooby 2wd/FWD boxes

Hi Guys from overhere in the UK, been pointed in your direction from my friend Rich (on here as Ricola)

I'm looking to fit a 2WD/FWD Scooby gearbox in my kit car based on a Porsche 550 Spyder. Looking to fit either an EJ20T or a EJ25 to it.

A long shot but does anyone know where I can find a list of the gearbox ratios the FWD boxes came with.

In the UK Impreza came as a 1.6 FWD, and I think 1.8 FWD and Legacy/Liberty as a 1.8 FWD , 2.0 2WD, or 2.2 FWD.
A few of the breakers in the UK have the FWD boxes in but it would be useful to be able to work out which box would be the one to TRY to get.

May not be the normal place to ask but perhaps some of you have mid mounted them to buggies etc. so may have some experience.

Tried posting on Scoobynet the main UK Subaru forum. But is infested with members who only have the ability to answer with default responses. Buy this bit , Buy this bit, fit these tyres. Ask a question that is not a default answer and no-response.

The Australian spec liberty is the best box to use , the attached photo is a WRX motor fitted to a 2.2 liberty , the owner is Keith ledgers father ( actor )
Sorry I did not take a photo of the car ( next time ) I had a very long chat to the man over this car and they found the box to be very good .
I did see it run it was fast but had some tyre problems ( to big ) this did get a flogging from a 2k ford escort .The kit car cost over 200K

O this is on the road ( lic ) street car :)

Welcome spyder550. I'll dig the ratios out as I have the Subaru manuals on CD. I run a Liberty 2.2 gearbox/WRX engine with a 3.9 diff I think it is. This seems to be a good ratio giving a fast launch but still having a nice top end speed in 5th (about 160MPH). Think about a LSD if going with the turbo engine as the small width tyres that we run under the Spyder just don't get the power to the tarmac when driving spirited.;)
good luck.

Spyder-WISD 07-09-05 11.6s @ 125 MPH

Speedster-WISD Nats 05 14.4s @ 89 MPH

Jet cruiser-Coogee 22-09-05 900 deg C @ 110,000 rpm

Weaseling out of things is what separates us from the animals....................Except the Weasel.

Cheers guys, the 2wd boxes are rare a as Rocking horse S**t here in the UK. Managed to pick one up from an Impreza. Having spoken with the Scooby breaker i got it from evidently they are the same box just a little difference in ratios.

Would be nice to know what the ratios are but i could probably calculate them using the the count the input to output rotation method

Cheers
Guy
