What can we say Moose great things come from small beginnings.
i remember what the rolling cage that you bought looked like and you’ve bought you buggy a long way. once everything settles down you’re going
to have a great machine!!.
Didn’t happen to build two and leave one around the back tho did you?? 
anyone else with piccies?

Dub, yeah it's mine - that pic was taken about 18-months ago and is now basically a frame and boxes of bits waiting to be sprayed and put back
together. It's a Valley frame, originally built by Wally Schmidt, of Murray Bridge SA, back in the mid 80's, and raced until 89. Since then it's
basically sat and festered. It runs a twin-port 1600, with a swing-axle saloon box, coverted to IRS with close ratio 3rd and 4th and a super diff.
I've got loads of other pics floating around somewhere, and will try and post a couple.

Any chance of getting some sketches or dimensions of your basic cage designs??
having a bit of trouble as don’t really have anyone around this end of the woods to get a bit of a hand or get go to start basic dimensions so I
can start trying to design my own.
Be a great aid if I could.
What are you jamming in the back end to give it its gogo??

are you building your own frame. from personal experience you are better off getting one that is all ready done as you will save a heap of time and
money. Unless you are planning on doing something special like A arm or mid mount or building a truggy i would look at buying a complete car. the
market is a bit slow so you can get a car for a good price these days. I built my old class 6 from a frame that i bought of custom offroad and well it
was a slow process to get it to race ready. Having said this my next project i will have to start from a basic shell.
also where abouts in Brisbane are you. if you need some help i am happy to help.
by the way build a real race car

I am out Toowoomba /Dalby way.
Am looking at doing the frame as cheap as possible, if I could find a frame around cheap enough it would be great but the first buggy wont be a
competition buggy probably, it will be to gain some skill and VW engine know how, a second buggy subject to finance will be a bought as a running
unit.
Currently I have the beetle leftovers of steering, motor and driveline.
I like building projects and when i am home share a shed with the family boilermaker and mechanic so skill wise will be fine, just deciding on
physical dimensions is the hard part.
But Wags,,
next time there is a meet around send me a u2u would be really interested in coming to watch!!.

I'd agree with Wag and not build a frame yourself - mine was a complete non-running unit, but it's still taken a long time to get to it's current
dismantled/ready for rebuild state - mind you, two kids and a wife do tend to get in the way on occasions. Nice truck by the way Wag - presumably
class 8 ?
I do know of a 2-seat racing frame in Qld that was going for around $2800, which I believe included the donk and gearbox - advertised on
Offroadracing.com.au (look under "classifieds", "competition vehicles").
There's also another frame with panels and other bits in SA for around $1500 - same web place on the web site (but then you'd need to get it back to
Qld).
Don't know whether either are still for sale though.

The first buggy will end up as a property / non competition machine, so not laying out a lot of money, hopefully No.2 will end up being a
competition machine.

would you be interested in a karman ghia as an off roader. i may know of one that is a bit rough in terms of panel work but the frame/rollcage is
good.

if you are thinking about the yellow one , then no it has been stripped and cutup and squashed but about a year ago i went and had a look at the old
maron one and it is very rough but has a solid cage . more work than i can do to get it back on the track but for someone that has the time it is
possible. i will try and find a phone number for you. it is near Bridgman Downs here in Brisbane

one day i will have a race karman. still looking around and have contacts about another one just trying to track it down. it is meant to be sitting
in a paddack for the last 5yrs so i am expecting it to be pretty rusty
