TYRE PRESSURES.
TYRE PRESSURES.
What tyre pressures do we all run in our different tyres on differing terrain. Am keen to hear about buggies for comparison as well a bajas and big
Kombines too.??
I’ve got Michelin 31by10.5r15 MTX tyres on the back at the moment with about 15% left on them (I got them off a mates pajero when he retyred. tyres
last forever on the buggy so why buy them. used is fine).
On the road and hard pack track pressures are at 10-15 pound, maybe a bit more if sharp rocks around, for general sand 5-10 pound mainly 7lb, for soft
cut up sand and rutted sand, 4-5. if I get stuck turning around or up the end of a cut off beach 3 pound and less.
ps. I haven’t been really stuck yet when I’ve had the tyres at the rignt pressure for the conditions. Sometimes I misjudge pressure and track
conditions. Haha.
On the front I’ve just got some new cheap arse Chinese 205/65/15s. keep about 15 in them all the time.
What tyres have you got and what pressures do you run under what conditions???

I've got 31x10.5R15 All Terrains on the back of our Baja Bus and usually run 10psi when up the beach at Double Island. Havent had it bogged where I
couldnt drive out on the Beach.

I went camping a few weeks ago, when I left the tar I took my tyres from 18psi down to 10 psi, being the dill I am about half hour again I stopped to
let air out when I hit the silica sand mine (not checking with a gauge) totally forgetting that I already had let air out.... spent all weekend
totally embarrasing jacked up 4x4's, no problems at all, when hitting the tar again I pumped the tyres again to discover I had been running round all
weekend with only 2psi! Anywho the moral of my story is with the low weight of a buggy as low as you dare would be the go (as long as you can
re-inflate).

I have cooper 215/75/15 on the front that I leave on 32 psi.The rear are Toyo Tranpath series 2 that I inflate to 36psi on the highway and 10/15 psi
on the sand.NEVER had a problem:beer

thats funny, with 15 or even 10 pound, deep sand would get me. i'd fall into the 4wd ruts sitting on my pan spinning. i find i need the lower
pressues to paddle through sliding on the pan. your tyres sound like they have grip, do you also have a pretty fresh motor and a bit of height?? i
have none of these.

park yourself in some powder and make sure you have a compressor and then start letting your tyres down and go for a drive, a pound at a time. yes at
2lb its amazing, at one pound the hairs on your neck will be up. then take the valves out & you will be amazed. i did this and went up the beach a
bit. sort of expected to loose the tyres off the beads but didnt surprisingly.
this would be the failsafe extraction method if somehow you foundyourself in a deep steep valley of flour....
how about the bajas??
