Stupid Question (Taking the door off)
Hey,
Im having dramas taking my passanger door off.
I got the drivers door off as all the screws were already loose.
But i cant seem to undo any of the screws on the passanger door.
Anyone know how i can get them off.
Im using the right size screw driver and i have wacked the hell out of the screwdriver to try and loosen the screws with some pressure but still
nothing.
The only thing i can think off is going out and buying an impact screw driver that you hit with a hammer and it turns as you hit it.
Anyone got any ideas how to get those stuck screws out.

some ppl will say the impact will put your door pillar out of wack, and the door wont line up.... however, I once had to use an impact and a sledge,
worked fine, door lined up well..... I did use some penetrating oil, applied a few times a day for about a week, then went hammering it...

In the meantime you can just clamp some vice grips around your screwdriver to get some extra leverage.
Worked fine on almost all my door screws.

I got an impact driver from repco for about $25. I just wanted to get thru changing discs on my wifes car & anything else was a bonus. My mate
since borrowed it to get his doors off - still works fine. The top is a bit burred over but he had to hit it with a sledge hammer to get his door
screws out. Will be using it to get my doors off soon. I was expecting it to be crap but its doing well so far.

If you carnt moove them with the above
Get a nice sharp drill and drill the heads of the screws off before you doo too much damage to the door pillar.
You can them remove the left over bit of the screw much easier with teh door right off.

I got a sweet as eTc impact driver from an antique shop for 5 bucks :kiss
also got a nice micrometre for $20
Pawn shops and antique shops are great places to find tools

I used a normal socket set and philips head bit. Just use the correct socket to fit the philips bit. Gives you plenty of leverage and if you have the
correct size philips bit you should be able to get it to stay in the screw head. If the screw heads have been buggered though, this probably wouldn't
work.

i just went through this....but i just sprayed a bit of RP7 around the screwhead. as a bit of rust must have gotten in and fastened the screw to the
body.
after about 30 mins of letting it soak. it came off with a screwdriver and vice grips.

An impact driver should have an interchangable head on it, which just so happens to fit onto a socket wrench, which also fits a rattle gun. I had
problems with mine and used the rattle gun and bingo.
30 seconds all screws were out no hassles at all.

If the door hasn't been off before......
they can be very hard as water that gets under the windscreen rubber drips thru the holes under the rubber down onto the screws threads.....
A Rattle gun is Best.....
See if You can get someone to undo them then do them back up by hand, and drive home and take the doors off.....
If the car is half pulled apart this is Not at all possible...
I had to use a rattle gun on mine too......

This may be a stupid suggestion but if you just use a really small coal chisel and a reasonable size hammer, and put the chisel tip right on the
outside of the screw and hit it farly hard, you will either unscrew the screw or end up cutting off the screw with the tip.
had to use this fairly often doing up old motorbikes and the like (steel into aluminium casing is a real bugger).
