Hi

Then you have never heard this car when it had a supercharger on it, not saying it sounded like a top fueller but the noise, how sweet it is/was

Butlers ride(track time)

It's been a long time between quarter mile passes for my good mate,Dave Butler.( over 2 years). The work under the house had come to end and time was right . So it was time to pull out the old racing suit from under the bed and head up to willowbank. Test & Tune days mean no pressure, rusty driver ,old trusty car with new combo , so dave wasn't trying to run any fast times yet. ANYWAY I will let Dangerous tell more when he gets over the shock to the system .All i will say is watch - out Allmotor !!!( 12.00 et/ 113 mph with lot more to come) Good to see you back !mate!

Superchargers have been sold and the Pauter engine is being converted for normally aspirated use as a spare for the one I raced on Saturday night.

13/June/'98 was my first run with the two screw blowers in the old car. Had 42psi boost on 2965cc type 1 based pauter cased engine with Bugpack A/F heads.
The project was MADNESS!
The new owner of the blowers will get "cranky" if I tell who he is before they are on the engine!nn[ Edited on 4-7-2005 by dangerous ]

Hey Dave

Glad to see you've made it back to the track again!!
What times are you hoping to get out of this engine/car combo?

Would love to see you get the tube car going again with the A/Craft engine. Prostocker! :thumb
Incidently have you heard how Mike is going with his?

Cheers Craig

Best time on Saturday night was 12.009@113.09.
Judging by the slow 1.851 sixty foot time there is at least two tenths improvement.
I still don't know what it weighs so I cant tell you how fast it will be.
There is still some tuning to do on the hi-speed
circuit, and it only went 6500rpm in 4th gear...and
the power peak is over 7000 so it is early days yet.
The main reason for rebuilding the "mule" was to
get back my enthusiasm. The tube car will be much
lighter and have gear ratios that make better use of
the power.
I was leaving the line on idle and only saw the shift
light in 3rd, so with an 8300 shift and a better
launch, it is anyones guess.

Guestimates

Well Craig, as much as guessing how fast it will go will backfire, I would say at best the car has 11.60s in it at the current weight.
The reality is that the tube car will only be about 150 lbs lighter, but again it is only a guess. So with dog rings in the 930 trans that I plan to use, and some more R&D, the 10 second zone is a possibility.
As far as handling is concerned, the chassis car is only lighter on the front axle, although the blowers added 100lbs to the engine weight.
The only engines that I have are Pauter engines which are heavyer than the Autocraft type but are stronger and have better cyinderheads, and valvetrain.
The tube car is lower but the drive train is on the same C.O.G. as the "mule" so if anything the old clunker will handle better with standard track resisting roll.
Michael Nash? Haven't heard from him in over a year!

What did you do with Stan's autocraft case? Was it still ok given the thrashing it took around the ovals?

Stan Burrow had used many Autcraft and Scat cases over the years and they all ended up with holes in them. This was the engine that he used for the last 3 seasons before he went water cooled Fontana.
There were 3 sets of A/C heads with the stuff I bought and have been sold off to buy food.Dave stoker has a set, as does Nash and also "Cranky" for a bigger engine.
All good homes!
