My 66' Raaf splitty
This is a picture of my Splitty. It was made for the air force back on the day. Im told its one of only 14 made. Currently in restoration process.Ive
got Roy from classic vw pacific scoping out parts for it. Its unique because its got cargo doors on both sides of the van and its got two windows in
the roof. Im told they were used for spotting airoplanes. Also a double thick floor pan for carrying big loads. Cant wait till its finished look for
updates.

just a bit of useless information on the raaf buses, these little babies were built to retreive sensitive radio communication gear from air craft[spystuff???]..the double door was used to help ease of loading and dispatch, the glass roof panels enabled thr driver to avoid crashing into the planes
undercarriage [eg engine/wings etc]..the raaf ordered splitties up until june 68...these buses are super rare in australia with a history..enjoy your
bus veedubjimmy....the forces would be proud! cheers dsk steve

BTW, where did you buy it? I had a mate with one, swapped it for a paint job on a 58 bug. Is it an aweful bright yellow colour?

re dsk steve
Cheers for the info steve finding any history on these babys is tough. Ive seen online only one other of these buses. It was yellow and in no where
near as good nick. Still definatly worth restoring because they are rare and because of the history.

Thanks yeah they are pretty unique. Im not really sure where you can find them to be honest ive seen only two a yellow one that needed restoration for
$2500 and a rerstored one about a year ago in a unique cars mag. Some one on this forum should know where one is.
