EJ22 technical questions

I have been following some of the discussions here in regards to EJ22, VSS and fault codes, so here are my own questions.

1) Why doesn't my tacho work anymore? Is it because the old motor had points, and this one coilpacks?

2) Does the VSS have to be hooked up to power, earth and the VSS input wire? I have only hooked up to signal input wire, but not driving yet, so still have to work this out.

3) When I plug the two black fault finding plugs in together, and then put the ignition on, it flashes continuously without any breaks.?

1) Why doesn't my tacho work anymore? Is it because the old motor had points, and this one coilpacks? - sort of. If you have an old tacho it will not like the tacho signal from the ECU. All teh new ones are fine, it is only the old ones. There is a diagram on here that was posted with some diodes and stuff in it to fix the problem.

2) Does the VSS have to be hooked up to power, earth and the VSS input wire? I have only hooked up to signal input wire, but not driving yet, so still have to work this out. - Yes it does, as stated above.

3) When I plug the two black fault finding plugs in together, and then put the ignition on, it flashes continuously without any breaks.? - that is fine. Constant means no fault codes recorded. If you leave plugs undone and turn ignition on you should get light on when ignition on and then light off once engine starts. If you red light comes on when your engine is running and plugs are undone then this means you have a fault code in the ECU to be retrieved.

Your accel linkage and cross over pipes will be in the mail this week.

Cheers,

Brad

Tacho I will get modified

OK VSS will be no probs I have the three wires ready to go.

The motor and gearbox are earthed strapped.

The fault light is the interesting one? Continually flashing?

continuosly flashing is like a test pattern to let you know it is all working.

If you are suggesting I am god ..... well you would be wrong as my Subie is now running quite badly ... it seems the exhaust monkeys don't actually know how to unplug a subie O2 sensor so they just rip the wires out of the plug ... idiots...

Now if I was god i would simply click my fingures and it would be fixed .... damn it ......
