Bay Bus Steering Arm
I was checking my Crewcab over the other day, looking at the steering as it has a fair amount of free play on the steering wheel.
The box is pretty worn and adjusting it did`nt really help, in fact it made it worse as even the slightest adjustment on the steering box screw made
the steering bind in the straight ahead position.
Anyway, I noticed that there is some play in the idler arm that is located on the bottom of the beam. It basically rocks up and down kind of pivoting
on the idler pin.
There is no play in the pin itself it is as though the astual pin shaft or the arm is worn. It has the locating bolt in place and is tight.
The beam is from a `77 Kombi and I think I used the original arm off teh Crewcab which is a `72.
Is this arm supposed to rock or is someting worn or is the pin/arm a different size on different years??
I`ll have to try and dig out the later arm and see if that helps but just thought someone might know?
Cheers
Graham.
