Air Filter in 69 Kombi

Anyone see a problem with replacing the standard oil-bath filter in a 69 Kombi with 1600SP engine with a K&N style pod filter?

Only the crankcase breather to worry about as the other pipes seem to have been removed

Thanks JB

Have fun finding a pod filtre to fit -most don't come below 3 inches, a 34pict has an o.d. of 52mm (2 inch). Redline make a chrome sandwich type filtre for about $45 that will fit if that helps....

Oh and no... there shouldnt be any probs with a stock 1600, might want to put a small oil breather filtre on the oil breather line/fitting help keep oil in and crap out.

actually k&n do make one for 52mm desert moose posted a part number a while back, like late last year, but be prepared for a huge intake noise increase. its also not going to make a huge different in power doing this unless it has a decent exhaust on it and even then it will only be a small increase. i ran twin air filters on my bug with a t4 but couldnt stand the intake noise on the freeway so i changed to an airbox.

Mainly want to do it to get rid of the oil-bath filter - messy thing it is!!

I know what you are saying about the size problems, but I am sure there is some way to adapt it with a bit of creativity
