type 3 conversion
OK guys i have resigned to the fact that whatever i stick in my squareback is going to need a higher engine cover, a holden v6 IS still the donk of
choice but im happy to shop around.
i want something that is going to be relatively simple (as far as conversions go) as electrics have a habit of ticking me off. im fairly handy with
welding/cutting and so on but im looking more for simplicity as this will probly end up coming out to be put in another t3 in the future (i think im
building a vw fetish).
what do you guys sujest considering im a newbie to this. i know its a high task but i want to do most of the work myself (i gotta learn some time). im
finaly driving a square back ive been working on since i was 16 but it ended up being a rush job for rego so i had some wheels for my first job. its a
sweet ride but i want something i can realy shove up my pulsar/ laser / run of the mill, cant even tell whos car it is other then the sticker on the
back window's noses.

yeh alot of people have been saying the subie is the way to go and i have to admit ive been swaying that way myself. i am VERY interested in INTHE
WEEDS's offer but dont want to rush into anything before i know that ill be able to complete the project.
i will be able to get the 3.8 engineered after a few other bits and peices get stuck on and was maily heading that direction because they are a
dime a dozen around here. the car would not get driven as often with the v6 (i still have a stock standard sqaureback to take to work), mainly a
weekend cruiser, but i have been thinking of building it as a daily driver with the subie as they seem fairly practicle.
as you might have guessed im still planing this one. i want to get i right before i start hacking it with the oxy.

Before you do anything else, talk to the local traffic authorities about a V6 holden. It might be legal down your way, people seem to get away with
alot. It wouldn't be my pick but there you go.
Other than that there are lots of other choices,

EJ20T/EJ22/EJ25 subies
Nissan VG30DET 3L V6 (much better than a holden V6 and cheap too)
Porsche flat 6
BTW, if they let you use a 3.8 litre V6, they might let you put a lexus V8 in it. It's only 4 litres but much much better. You'd need a good tranny
though, I'd say an auto, but it'd wipe anything else off the road.

pete thanx for the tip, ive crossed rotaries and v8s of the list for fuel/reliability reasons and also because im a big wuss and dont like acidently
frying my tires every time i try to drive the car. a porsche 6 would be nice indeed but i would hate to think of the cost of a half cut.
i do like the sound of the nissan if it is better and cheaper than the holden 6 and hadnt even looked into this option, thanx, i will look into
this
and once again the subie is mentioned.
i have been looking into the subie, and like what i see. only problems are all the electrical gizmos, like i said im not too good with these and its
my first attempt at a conversion, i can get plenty of help and advice with the mechenical side so im confident here but will probly be on my lonesome
with the electrics, does anyone think a beginer can handle them or would i be better off doing what i can and passing the rest on. the way i see it
the more i do myself the more cash i save for other parts on the car or future projects

if you have to use the holden, at least get the supercharged version 
there's a guy in Vic who does lots of V6s into other model holdens. He does shortened looms and everything. Can't remember his name.
For a nissan, an aftermarket computer would be the easiest, same with the toyota V8. However, it will cost a bit more coz you will need some time on a

A good friend of mine was fed a very similar line to this when he went looking for advice about putting a Holden V6 in his dualcab Kombi. Now he owns
the leading Kombi workshop in Oz. The car in question is now by far the wildest street dualcab in the country.

Yeah fair point... Maybe I should have said "dumb idea - you would be mad to choose a 3.8 over a Subie 2.0. The Subi is so much easier to install
and the car will handle better and will retain some load space and will be easier to get rego for...and...there's a Turbo one here for sale on the
forum right now!"
A 3.8-litre V6 is an idea outside the square. That's the problem... You want an engine that legally fits inside the Square... lol
I'd just like to set this feller on the right path before he wastes too much money, huh.
My big brakes.. lol... I'd already done a year's work on those before i posted details on here, then really only copped serious flack from a couple
of idiots. I now have possibly the most "stoppingest" street Beetle in the country

The cc's of the v6 wouldnt be allowed in NSW, or is the weight of the t3 enough to push it up a couple of levels?
I love my ej20t:kiss
Its same configuration, similar size, flat four sound, price, ease to work on and did I mention ridiculous power in stock form with the ability to
easily turn up the boost for double the ridiculous power.
It would be hard to suggest a better option.
The kit for sale is cheap especially with the gearbox also...you could convert for under $4000....thats pretty good.
I am seriously thinking of getting it and sitting it aside till another car is chosen( I need 3). It will save money and time.
